Is a storage account safe? - Guild Wars Forums

Hi everybody, I know some guys that use other accounts only for storage.
Is it safe?
I mean: if people who buy gold/ectos/zkey/etc for real money risks to get banned because of receiving huge amount of those for nothing...isn't the same riskfull to have a storage account?

I've been away from GW for 1-2 years, so something may have changed.
Thanks in advice for clarifications!

You should know that buying an account can carry risks in terms of account being reclaimed back(the owner can just provide cd key) and the items can be stolen this way

As long as you don't go around flaunting around giving excuse to Anet to ban your secondary account, you should be fine

Edit: I assumed you were buying a used account, sorry lol. But yes, you are perfectly fine if you bought a cd key for your own use

Lol I believe the OP meant buying a new account off amazon or whatever not off a friend :P. Most people I know have one and have never had a problem, one person in my guild even has an account for halloween p cons and he hasn't had a problem.

LOL, not sure where Wracks got the idea that he was buying a used account, but as long as that isn't the case then you should be fine.

I have an alt account that i've transferred items to and I've also transferred large amounts of ectos and shards over to a close friend as gifts. Nothing has ever happened to my accounts. I think A-net is smart enough to tell the difference between a gold seller and a casual player moving stuff to alts or friends. A gold seller account will be making large one sided trades to many different accounts.

there is no reason you can not have multiple accounts.
HOW you use them is you choice--however, you must remain within the EULA.--so if you just want to use your 2nd (3rd....100th) account for just storage....you should have no problems.

back when there were no extra character slots for sale LOTS of people bought extra accounts....I have had no issues moving stuff to my mule account, that said, I have no ecto, plat or armbraces

....only nic trophies etc.....so I have never had problems.

WHERE you get your extra account matters---ONLY a new account from an authorized source---do NOT get it off of another player or buy it from someone who already has used the key---you WILL have issues!!!***

If you're really worried about it, just put a placeholder in trade chat, just for don't trade something for nothing.

Btw, until you're in EULA, it's legit.

Two years ago, I bought a new account from Amazon and used it as storage account ever since. Traded freely between my two accounts with and without trading something back. Never got the slightest problem. Both are registered on the same NCSoft Master Account and have the same personal information you enter on account creation. Both never chat with each other (I usually don't talk with myself).

So: go for it, if you feel you need a storage account. But only buy a new account. No used account, because account trade is against the eula.

I have two accounts that have had millions in gold and ecto traded across them, and have never been banned for it... i am pretty certain its based off your IP address... because i just showed in trade a Chinese friend a few stacks of ecto and they suspended me for real world trade, and perma banned her for selling.... until i contacted them and got it resolved and was informed the ban was automated in nature.
